Candy Stevia Seeds - Stevia Rebaudiana - Sweet & Delicious
Quantity: 10 Seeds
Stevia is an amazing herb. It's native to Brazil and Paraguay, and has been used by indigenous people as a food and sweetener since the 16th century. the plant contains a compound called stevioside which is 300 times sweeter than sucrose. The plants are grown as annual, and provided optimal growing conditions, will produce an abundance of sweet leaves that can be dried and used throughout the winter. The flavour is both strong and divine, and can be used in many desserts and dishes. The beautiful tiny blooms are useful for attracting beneficial insects to the garden too.
All seeds are organic and open pollinated.

Growing Instructions
It's best to start Stevia seeds 4-6 weeks before the last frost. It's good to sow them in a sterile growing medium; most available seed starting soils should do the job nicely; we use sunshine mix (peat moss and perlite). The soil should be made moist, but not damp. Sow the seeds on the soil surface or 1/8 inch below the soil surface. Store in a warm area until tiny sprouts emerge from the soil. A heat mat aids in this step, but is not necessary. Once germinated, and the first two true leaves have formed, it's time to pot up to a larger container that contains a good quality potting soil. Transplant to their final location when the nighttime temperatures are consistently 8°C or higher, which is around mid-may for us at the farm. Stevia does best when grown in full sun.
