English Lavender Seeds - Lavendula Angustifolia - Aromatic & Perennial
Quantity: 100 Seeds
English Lavender, aka Lavendula Angustifolia, is a tried and true medicinal and culinary herb in the mint family Lamiaceae. It originates from Europe and the Mediterranean, and is perennial down to zone 5. The leaves are extremely fragrant and pungent in flavour. It's typically used in aromatherapy or in skin products, but many enjoy consuming lavender in ice cream and teas. There are many different species in the lavender family, but English lavender is known as the "true" lavender as it has the highest concentrations of essential oils. Lavender plants are vigorous growers, and once established, will produce an abundance of herb for many years to come.
All seeds are organic and open pollinated.

Growing Instructions
It's best to start Lavender seeds 4-6 weeks before the last frost. It's good to sow them in a sterile growing medium; most available seed starting soils should do the job nicely; we use sunshine mix (peat moss and perlite). The soil should be made moist, but not damp. Sow the seeds on the soil surface. Store in a warm area until tiny sprouts emerge from the soil. A heat mat aids in this step, but is not necessary. Once germinated, and the first two true leaves have formed, it's time to pot up to a larger container that contains a good quality potting soil. Transplant to their final location when the nighttime temperatures are consistently 8°C or higher, which is around mid-may for us at the farm. Lavender does best when grown in full sun.
