Genovese Basil Seeds - Ocimum Basilicum - Aromatic & Delicious

Quantity: 300 Seeds

Genovese Basil, or Ocimum Basilicum, is an annual member of the mint family, Lamiaceae. This plant is a tried and true variety, and the staple ingredient in traditional Pesto. It thrives in many different environments but prefers to have lots of sunshine, and a decent amount of moisture in the soil. It doesn't grow well in the shade, so partial to full sun is recommended for the healthiest plants. With the right attention and environment, these plants will provide you with an abundance of delicious and nutritious greens for the entire growing season.

The leaves from this plant give off an intoxicatingly wonderful fragrance when touched, and they can be consumed in tea. If you let the plants grow to flower, they are a great source of nectar, and attract bees as well as other beneficial pollinators. Planting basil anywhere near the garden will therefore increase pollination of crops and other plants in the area.

All seeds are organic and open pollinated.
