Mountain Arnica Seeds - Arnica Montana - Medicinal & Perennial
Quantity: 15 Seeds
Mountain Arnica, or Arnica Montana, is a member of the Aster family, Asteraceae. It's a perennial down to zone 5, but can be grown as an annual everywhere else. It thrives in many different environments, including poor soil conditions, but prefers to have lots of sunshine and a decent amount of moisture in the soil. It doesn't grow well in the shade, so partial to full sun is recommended for the healthiest plants.
Arnica has a long history and supporting science for its medicinal uses. The Flowers are what is typically used, and they are harvested when fully opened, and then dried for use when needed. A poultice of the flowers is used to treat skin conditions such as bruises and sprains. It is very effective. It's important to note that the medicinal compounds found in Arnica are toxic when consumed, so can only be used externally, and not on areas where the skin has been broken. This being said, it is otherwise completely safe and effective to use.
All seeds are organic and open pollinated.

Arnica seeds may be started in pots in the spring, or directly sown into the ground. Sow seeds on the surface of the soil, and be sure to keep the soil consistently moist until seeds germinate. The plants don’t require very much attention other than a good mulching, a bi-weekly watering, and regular picking to stimulate more growth. These plants are quite vigorous, and just a few of them can provide you with a full years supply of its highly prized flowers. Arnica is resistant to deer, pests, drought, and flood; It’s a very robust plant.
